TRIM DOWN YOUR FAT WITH THE HELP OF YOGA POSES

Can yoga really help you lose weight? It’s not only going to peel off the fat but it’s going to be a life changing experience. People often join yoga classes for weight loss and leave their mat much more content, since yoga has both physiological and psychological benefits.

Sometimes less is more
It is absolutely unnecessary to sweat more to lose more weight; instead you can shed those kilos by practicing the gentle flow of yoga asanas. Yoga helps in sculpting the body by increasing flexibility, strengthening muscles, increasing the range of motion of your joints and improving posture. There are certain asanas that help with problem areas, such as:
• Adho mukha svanasana
• Matsyendra asana
• Bhujangasana
• Balasana
• Matsyasana and Sarvangasana stimulate the thyroid gland and boost metabolism.

Disclipine

Weight loss cannot be accomplished solely through practicing yoga; one has to maintain strict discipline in regards to Ahar (diet), Vihar (routine), Achar (conduct with the outside world) and Vichar (thought process). Adhering to these four disciplines will help you live a happy and content life.

Fighting disease

According to yogic tradition, diseases take birth in our body when there are blockages in the flow of prana, or vital energy as it is called. This decreased prana or disturbed flow of prana gives rise to problems like weight gain, insomnia, lethargy, overeating, fatigue and headaches, among many others. Over times, these problems can turn into chronic diseases. Through the practice of asanas and pranayama, energy blockages in the body are removed, and the flow of prana is increased once again. This increased flow of prana improves vitality and promotes wellbeing.

Pranayama for weight loss

Pranayama is a powerful exercise that helps fight obesity. Kapalbhati pranayama purifies the body by releasing toxins and toning the abdominal area. Anulom Vilom, or alternate nostril breathing, and Surya Bhedan Pranayama are also effective breathing techniques for losing weight. However, these should be practiced only under the guidance of an expert, since they can be harmful if performed incorrectly.
