REVIVIFY YOUR EYES WITH THESE EASY TECHNIQUES

Eyes are the most neglected organs in the human body. We strive to have glowing skin, lustrous hair, a chiselled face and a perfectly trimmed body, but most often we neglect our eyes. Not just a reflection of beauty, they are the most important sensory organ that connects us to the outside world. Rightly said, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. However, a pair of beautiful eyes make the world seem more beautiful.

Revivify Those Eyes with These Easy Techniques

Due to extended usage of electronic screens, reading in dim light and even exposure to bright light, the eye muscles go through a lot of stress. While using screens, our eyeballs look straight with minimal movement. As a result, we experience watery eyes, dry eyes, headaches, blurred vision, a sore neck, back aches, burning eyes, lack of concentration and much more. Have you ever tried to exercise your eyes instead of reaching out for caffeine? If you haven’t, then this is the time to pamper your strained eyes.

Revivify Those Eyes with These Easy Techniques

Here are some exercises which one can perform at any time of the day when the eyes feel completely strained:

Palming: Rub the palms of your hands to produce heat and immediately place each palm over your eyes. Gradually remove your hands and open your eyes.

Eye Rotation: Turn your eyes from side to side 10 times, and then look up and down and then diagonally 10 times without moving your neck. Slowly rotate your eyes clockwise and anticlockwise while taking a rest in between.

Massage: Massage your eyes balls and the skin below the brows with feather-light pressure using your little finger. You can use almond oil for nourishment and relaxation.

Quick Tips:

Remember to take a break every 10 minutes while working on the screen and try to look around at objects that are at a distance.

  •  Bend your elbows at 90 degrees while typing on the keyboard.
  •  Keep your screen at arm’s distance.
  •  Drink lots of water to flush out harmful toxins from your body.
  •  Make sure you adjust the contrast and brightness of your screen.
  •  Eating fruits and vegetables rich in Vitamins A and C will aid your eyes too.
  •  Also include green leafy vegetables, Indian gooseberry and dairy products in your diet.

Yoga for healthy eyes:

All the yoga asanas that increase blood supply to the head, neck and shoulders are advisable to keep your eyes healthy. Recommended asanas that rejuvenate the eyes are:

  • Sirsa asana
  • Adhomukha svanasana
  • Halasana
  • Sarvangasana
  • Akarna dhanurasana

Jala neti or nasal irrigation with saline water is known to have great impact on eye health.

Note: All the yoga practices should be done under the supervision of an experienced yoga trainer.
