A video of Barbie talking about racism with her friend Nikki, an African American doll, has gone viral on social media and for all the right reasons.
WHAT IS THE BARBIE VIDEO ABOUT?
An animated clip of Barbie and her friend Nikki was recently posted on the Barbie YouTube page. The vlog-style clip in which Barbie and her friend regularly appear to discuss various things, shows the two talking about racism and how people are treated differently because of the colour of their skin.
HOW DID THE VIDEO GO VIRAL?
A part of the YouTube clip was shared on Twitter by a user @fentytannies with the caption, “Now why is barbie spitting facts (sic).”
In the video, Nikki recalls how she was going to join a French honour club at school, but a teacher, who didn’t know her, said that she got good grades in the French entrance exam because she “got lucky”. To which Barbie enquires, “Why didn’t you just stay in the club and prove him wrong?”

In the end, Barbie says, “That means that white people get an advantage that they didn’t earn, and Black people get a disadvantage that they don’t deserve
