A rare flapshell turtle of a peculiar yellow colour was rescued from the pond in Burdwan. It is one of a kind and its colour has been attributed to either genetic mutation or congenital disorder due to the absence of the tyrosine pigment.

In a post on Twitter, Debashish Sharma shared details of the rescue operation.
“Today, a yellow turtle was rescued from a pond in Burdwan, West Bengal. It’s one kind of a rarely occurring flapshell turtle. It’s an albino kind whose peculiar yellow colour is may be because of either some genetic mutation or congenital disorder due to absence of tyrosine pigment,” Debashish Sharma said in the caption of the post.
